A happy home

We had a fun little house-warming/birthday party on Saturday.  These are a few photos from the event.  It was a Potluck, which basically meant I ate too much of an assortment of really good dishes.  To name off a few: stuffed mushrooms and tomatoes, smoked salmon chowder, quinoa salad, cheesy potatoes,   homemade hummus & dill dip with fresh market veggies, bbq'd oysters and sooo much more! Yum, I'm getting hungry just writing about it.

Brittany brought a beautifully wrapped box which housed the cutest little owl pitcher which I promptly displayed on our mantle.  Rachy gave us 4 gorgeous little champagne saucers that had belonged to her grandmother.  So naturally, we sipped champagne like the dainty women we are out of the etched glass saucers the rest of the night!   I also love the radio my mom & I purchased for Peter.  It looks vintage but you can plug your i-pod into it!

It was a fun night, although I wish I could have stayed up a bit later instead of going to bed before my guests!!  I woke up the next morning and Brittany, Tanner & Luke had cleaned my entire kitchen/dining room!  Sheeesh!  Talk about good friends!

Found Photo Friday: Snow Squirrel

As some of you may or may not know...I love squirrels.  My sister and I had two local Squirrels in our neighborhood growing up that we collectively named Chip and Dale. (Super creative right?)

Another reason for my squirrel obsession?  My sister had a pretty feared move called the "flying squirrel jump" where she'd run after me; arms spread out and tackle me whenever I had pissed her off.  Even though it was painful to be on the receiving end of the flying squirrel jump, I have nothing but fond memories of it now.

I ♥ squirrels.  'Nuff said.

Animal portraits

My husband and I spent a great weekend up in Bellingham visiting friends and celebrating birthdays.  Mr. Squirrel was the sweet gift I received from Brittany (complete in a cute vintage frame).  I've already decided he will go great above towel rack number one in our bathroom and now I just need to convince Mrs. Squirrel that she'd be oh so happy living above towel rack number two.  I thought the Skunk couple was also adorable.  To see more of these wonderful drawings from the imagination of Ryan Berkley check out his Etsy shop: Berkley Illustrations.
