Mic + Somaly :: The Wedding

As promised, here are some photos from the Castro's wedding over Labor Day Weekend.  It was such a fun wedding with tons of dancing.  Somaly is a 'long lost' high school friend I reconnected with via facebook, you may remember her and Mic from their engagement photos. It was great to get to hang out with her all day and chat with some other old friends I hadn't see in years.

Thanks to Brittany for second shooting and hanging out with me all day!

p.s. - My blogger template is currently under construction, so things might look a little bare for a while.

Fox & Bobcat :: 1 year anniversary!

I can't believe Sweetpea & I have been married 1 year now! To 'commemorate' our  1st anniversary I'm sharing with you one of my favorite wedding gifts. This lovely photograph taken and given to us by my friend Christine. It is by far one of the best gifts I've ever received. It is hanging over our fireplace just above our owl water pitcher.  Sometimes I gaze at it and pretend that Pete is Fox and I am Bobcat.

Our celebration included a fancy night in a lush hotel in Seattle this past weekend (thanks to a generous Aunt & Uncle).  We also indulged in Tutta Bella pizza, Magners Irish Cider, and some killer huevos rancheros for breakfast...

My favorite memories from our 1st year:
♥honeymoon in Ireland
♥rocking out at concerts together: The Pogues & The Grandtours
♥buying a kick-ass house
♥many weekends spent together at Hat Island
♥floating in our 3 ft kiddie pool on hot sunny days
♥splitting plates of fish & chips & raw oysters
♥blasting the boss while cooking together
♥bike trip through the San Juan Islands
♥lazy sundays
♥playing cribbage on the back porch

I love you Pete!  It's been an amazing year.

Kelly Moore photography bag

I saw this bag while browsing the web for photo gear this weekend, and I'm in love!  Hello wish list, this bag is moving to the top!  I have a gear bag now, but: 1) it doesn't hold as much & 2) it is nowhere near as cute.

The b-hobo bag in heather grey, by Kelly Moore, can hold a good amount too: "up to a 9 inch lens, camera body, flash, phone, batteries & other accessories".

Sylvia Photgraphy ♥

While exploring Flickr I stumbled upon some beautiful images taken by Sylvia, a 12 year old Spanish photographer.  Aren't these lovely?  I wish I could say I was producing this caliber of work when I was her age, but sadly it's just not true.

Land Art : Site Intervention

It would make my day if I passed by any of these "installation" pieces while out and about.  This type of creative work transforms these everyday monotonous public places  into something worth a closer look.

Long Shot: 24hr Photo-thon

    3.                                        4.

What could be more fun than an assortment of different people out and about for a 24hr period taking photos of anything and everything?  Not much I think.  It's the Long Shot: 24hr Photo-thon put on by Photo Center NW and it's an event to help support and benefit the center.  Anyone anywhere can join!

My friend Christine, who is a part of the PCNW community, clued me in on this fun event.  It goes from 6pm Friday, April 30th to 6pm, Saturday May 1st.  Above are a few shots from 2009 (the first year of this project).

Fantastic Frankie & Big Daddy K

I went a little crazy when I found Big Daddy K's photostream on flickr.  I love the photos of his daughter Frankie.  She is absolutely precious and has so many expressions telling different stories (which he does an incredible job of capturing). I wanted to reach right through the screen and squeeze her!

Big Daddy K doesn't just photograph Frankie; he also has a set of self-portraits that showcase his striking resemblance to Tom Waits...its surreal.

Luminous Lu

I am loving the photography of Ana Luísa Pinto.

I browsed through her flick photostream and these images above were some of my favorites because they remind me of the excitement and anticipation I often feel around the Holidays.  They are small treasures and sweet treats, carefree and yet thoughtful.  The bright colors in these photographs reassure me that the New Year will have many good surprises in store as long as I take one day at a time and don't let my worries or fears determine the path I take.

*You can find more of Lu on her flickr: Luminous Lu

Erin Tyner

I love discovering artists new to me through Flickr. These little treasures are by Erin Tyner an Atlanta based photographer whose art often focuses on still life and macro work. I instantly loved these images when I came across them.

Elle Moss

I am completely in love with the photographic work of Elle Moss.  Her images create a surreal world in which I'd like to go vacation in for a few weeks.  Most of the work found here is self portraiture.  Over here she has inspiring images that remind me of the look and style of my favorite movie Amélie.  Elle Moss is one busy gal, she has two blogs, two Etsy shops and a Flickr photostream that I could get lost in for hours.  The colors, the adorable outfits, trinkets and the soft lighting which surround most of her work makes me want to cry!

Thank you Elle for your gorgeous work and allowing me to post it here!
